Passed Into Legend

Soon silence will have passed into legend.

Man has turned his back on silence.

Day after day he invents machines and devices

that increase noise and distract humanity

from the essence of life, contemplation, meditation…

tooting, howling, screeching, booming, crashing,

whistling, grinding, and trilling bolster his ego.

His anxiety subsides.

His inhuman void spreads monstrously like a gray vegetation.

  2. Love the quote – certainly is true. It is very difficult to find quiet even in nature any more. I have been trying to record silence, the sounds of birds, brooks, and wind rustling the leaves of the trees. You really have to be in the middle of a forest to escape from man made noise even then there is always the chance of an airplane flying over head. Your photos make me feel like you experience silence.

    • Thanks.. and on the most part I do get to experience silence. Unfortunately this time of the year we have deer season in full swing so the forest is full of hunters and campers and silence is not as prevalent as I would like. Come December when all the hunting dies down I can pretend like I have the forest all to myself again. Kind of selfish of me wanting it all to myself but it sure is a pleasure to spend a few hours hearing nothing but your own thoughts and the sounds of nature. I know you can appreciate that. 🙂
